Abstract:  Objective Toevaluatetheexpressionandcorrelationofphosphorylatedmammal
ofrapamycin ( p-mTOR ), eukaryoticinitiationfactor4E ( eIF4E ) andphosphorylatedeukaryotic
initiationfactor4Ebindingprotein1 ( p-4EBP1 ) ininvasivepituitaryadenomas.Methods Fifty-
twopatientsofinvasivepituitaryadenomasandforty-ninepatientsofnon-invasivepituitary
adenomaswereselectedinthisstudy.Theexpressionsofp-mTOR , eIF4Eandp-4EBP1were
respectivelydetectedininvasivepituitaryadenomasgroupandnon-invasivepituitaryadenomas
groupbyimmunohistochemistry method.Thedifferencesofp-mTOR , eIF4E and p-4EBP1
betweenthetwogroupswerecompared , andthecorrelationofp-mTOR , eIF4Eandp-4EBP1in
invasivepituitary adenomas wasstudied.Results The positiverate oftheexpression of
p-mTOR , eIF4Eandp-4EBP1 wasrespectivelyhigherininvasivepituitaryadenomasgroup
(
73.08% , 63.46% , 67.31% ) thanthatinnon-invasivepituitaryadenomas ( 48.98% , 38.78% ,
36.73% ) .Thedifferencesbetweentwogroupswerestatisticallysignificant ( P <0.05 ) .Positive
correlation wasfounded betweenthe expression ofp-mTOR , eIF4E ininvasive pituitary
adenomas ( r =0.520 , P =0.000 ), and positivecorrelation wasalsofounded betweenthe
expressionofp-mTORandp-4EBP1ininvasivepituitaryadenomas ( r =0.360 , P =0.041 ) .In
addition , positivecorrelation wasfoundedbetweeneIF4Eandp-4EBP1ininvasivepituitary
adenomas ( r =0.320 , P =0.019 ) .Conclusion Theexpressionlevelsofp-mTOR , eIF4Eand
p-4EBP1oftheinvasivepituitaryadenomaswerehigherthanthatofthenon-invasivepituitary
adenomas.Positivecorrelation wasfoundedamongp-mTOR , eIF4Eandp-4EBP1ininvasive
pituitaryadenomas.p-mTOR , eIF4E and p-4EBP1inthepituitaryadenoma may playan
importantroleintheinvasivenessofpituitaryadenomas.
