Abstract: [Abstract] ObjectiveTo determine whether implementation of the central line bundle(CLB) would reduce the usage rate and the infection rate of central venous catheters(CVCs). MethodsDuring baseline phase(from January 2011 to December 2011), active surveillance of CLABSIs was conducted. The intervention of the central venous catheter in the intervention phase(from January 2012 to December 2014) was measured and the implementation of target was monitored. The rate of central venous catheter and the infection rate of central venous catheter before and after the intervention were compared. ResultsAfter implementation of the CLB, the usage rate of central venous catheter was reduced from 730% to 588%(P<001). Central venous catheter infection rate was decreased from 486% to 184%(P<005). ConclusionThe utilization rate and infection rate of central venous catheter in intensive care unit were reduced by cluster intervention.
