Abstract: ［Abstract］ Objective〖HTSS〗〓To investigate the effect of combined orthodontic and orthognathic treatment on profile improved and occlusal function of the patients with skeletal Ⅲ malocclusion and mandibular shifting.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗〓The clinical data of 27 patients  were analyzed. All patients received orthodontic treatment combined with orthodontic treatment. We compare the rate of soft tissue asymmetry before and after surgery to evaluate the improvement of the appearance of the patients. We compare muscle surface raise potential and muscle asymmetry index before and after surgery to evaluate occlusal function.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗〓The Q value of the upper and lower lip deviation 3 months after orthognathic surgery was lower than that of one month before treatment, while the Q value of the bilateral mandibular deviation was higher than that of one month before treatment(P＜005). Three months after treatment, the right masseter muscle recruitment potential, the left and right sides of the abdominal muscle recruitment potential were lower than those of one month before treatment. After 6 months of treatment, the recruitment potential of the left and right temporal muscles, the right and left masseter muscle recruitment potential and the right and left sides of the abdominal muscle of the two groups were significantly higher than those of  one month before treatment and three monthes after treatment(P＜005). Three months after treatment, the asymmetry index of the temporal muscle, the asymmetry index of the masseter muscle and the asymmetry index of the two abdominal muscles were significantly increased, but  those were decreased at six monthes after treatment when compared with a month before the treatment and three monthes after the treatment(P＜005).
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗〓The orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic treatment is very effective. The curative effect is remarkable and stable, and it can meet the requirements of the patients to restore the beauty and the occlusal function. It is worthy of clinical promotion.
