Abstract: [Abstract] Objective〖HTSS〗〓To study the effect of Schisandrin on the erectile function of the diabetic rats with erectile dysfunction(ED).
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗〓One handred healthy male SD rats were injected with streptozocin to establish the diabetic rat models. Apomorphine inducing penile erection was used to select the diabetic rats with ED. After 8 weeks of treatment with Schisandrin(lowdose group, middledose group and highdose group),the intracavernous  pressure(ICP)  and  mean  arterial  blood pressure(MAP) were measured. The inferior vena cava blood of rats were collected to measure the level of alanine aminotransferse(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and serum creatinine(SCr).
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗〓The baseline ICP among all groups have no obvious difference before the electrical stimulation(P>005). The MAP among all groups have no obvious difference when the electrical stimulation(P>005). When the electrical stimulation, compared with normal control group, the ICP and ICP/MAP of rats from diabetes mellitus and diabetesinduced erection dysfunction(DIED) groups were jointly decreased in sequence(P<005). Compared with the DIED group, the ICP and ICP/MAP of rats from DIED and lowdose Schisandrin group had no significant changes(P>005), and the ICP and ICP/MAP of rats from middledose Schisandrin group and highdose Schisandrin group were both increased in sequence(P<005). The increase in the highdose group was most obvious(P<005).There was no obvious difference among all groups on the levels of ALT, AST, ALP and SCr(P>005).
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗〓The application of Schisandrin is able to improve the erection function of rats with DIED and its safety is high. It provides theoretical basis for the clinical application of this drug in the future.
