Abstract: ] Objective Tobuildanormalpelvicfiniteelementmodelandtocomparethe
stabilityofunstablepelvicfracturesfixedwiththreekindsofinternalfixatorbythree-dimensional
finiteelementanalysis.Methods A normaladultmalewaschosenrandomlyandscannedby
computerizedtomography ( 1mmslicethickness ) .Theresultswereconservedindigitalimaging
andcommunicationsinmedicineformat.Thefiniteelementmodelwasmadeusingthesoftwareof
Mimics , GeomagicStudio , SolidWorks , Abaqus.Thefiniteelementmodelofunstablepelvic
fracturewassetup , andthefractureofposteriorpelvicringwasfixedwiththreekindsofinternal
fixatorseparately.Aloadingof500Nwasputandthebilateralacetabulumwasconstrained.The
strain , displacementandstressnephogramsofthepelvicmodelandtheshiftoffracturegapwere
obtained.Results Under500 N verticalload , thestresspassedthroughsacrum , bilateral sacroiliacjointandthearcuatelinetothebilateralacetabulum.Under500Nverticalload , the
strainconcentratedofthe modelwasverysmall.Thedisplacementsofpelvic model were
iliosacral ( IS ) model ( 1.86mm ), minimallyinvasiveadjustableplate ( MIAP ) model ( 6. 89mm ),
tensionbandplate ( TBP ) model ( 9.10 mm ) .TheshiftoffracturegapinpelvicmodelwasIS
model ( 1.75mm ), MIAPmodel ( 3.00mm ), TBPmodel ( 8.03mm ) .Conclusion Thepelvisisa
steadystructure.Underverticalload , thestabilityoftheunstablepelvicfracturesfixedwith
MIAPislessthanthatfixedwithtwoISscrews , andbetterthanthatfixedwithTBP.
