Influence of different concentrations of contrast agents on the image quality by prospective ECG-gated 256-slice coronary CTA technique

Abstract: [ Abstract ] Objective Toevaluatetheinfluenceofdifferentconcentrationsofcontrastagents
onimagequalitybyprospectiveECG-gated256-slicecoronaryCTangiography ( CTA ) .Methods
NinetypatientssuspectedcoronaryheartdiseaseunderwentprospectiveECG-gated256-slice
coronaryCTA.Thosepatients wererandomlydividedintothreegroups : group A ( Iohexol
injection300mgI / mL ), groupB ( Iohexolinjection320mgI / mL ) andgroupC ( Iohexolinjection
350mgI / mL ) .Thedosageofcontrastagentwas0.8 mL / kgbody weight.Coronaryimage
quality , imagesignalnoiseratio ( SNR ), imagecarriertonoiseratio ( CNR ) andamountof
contrastagentwerecomparedamongthreegroups.Results There were371 , 368and365
coronarysegmentsingroupA , BandC , respectively.GroupCwassignificantbetterinsubjective
imagescore , theevaluationrateofcoronarysegmentsandexcellentrateofimagequality ( P <
0.01 ), andwashigherinaorticCTvalueandinCNRthanthoseingroupAandB ( P <0.05 )However , therewasnotsignificantdifferenceinSNRamongthreegroups ( P >0.05 ) .Thetotal
mediumdosageofcontrastagentingroupA wassignificantlowerthanthatingroupC ( P <
0.05 ) .Conclusion LowconcentrationsofcontrastagentswithprospectiveECG-gated256slice
coronaryCTAisfeasibleinpatients , whichcanreducetheradiationdoseandsideeffectsof
contrastagentaswellasmaintaindiagnosticimagequality.
