Abstract: Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of narrow-band ultraviolet(UVB) combined with compound clobetasol propionate ointment for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. Methods A randomized clinical trial was conducted.Totally 60 patients with psoriasis vulgaris were randomly divided into the experiment group(treated with NB-UVB plus topical compound clobetasol propionate ointment once daily in the evening ) and control group (treated with compound clobetasol propionate ointment once daily only). The treatment course lasted for eight weeks. The efficiency and adverse reactions were evaluated at the baseline,as well as 2,4 and 8 weeks after treatment. Results After treatment, psoriasis area and severity index of two groups were lower than before, also the degree of experimental group decreased significantly compared with that of control group. After the treatment for 2,4,8 weeks, the efficacy of experimental group was better than that of control group, and with the time, the effect significantly increased. Adverse reactions showed no significant difference between two groups. Conclusion NB-UVB combined with compound clobetasol propionate ointment is a safe and effective choice for psoriasis vulgaris.
