Diagnostic significance of arterial spin labeling in the assessment of tumor grade in brain

Abstract ] Objective Toassessthearterialspinlabeling ( ASL ) perfusionimagingmeasurement
ofcerebralbloodflow ( CBF ) inpatientswithbraintumors , andassessingpreoperativetumorgradein
brain.Methods PubMed , WebofScience , Embase , ChinaBioMedicine ( CBM ), CINAHL ,
CochraneLibrary , andChinaNationalKnowledgeInfrastructure (
CNKI ) databaseswerechosen
toevaluatetheassociationsbetweenASLandbraincancer.Thequalityoftheincludedtrialswas
evaluated.Standardizedmeandifference ( SMD ) at95% confidenceinterval ( 95% CI ) wasalso
calculated.Results FourhundredsandseventyfivepatientswereenrolledintothisMeta-analysis
from12eligiblestudiesandwereselectedforstatisticalanalysis.Resultsshowedthatrelative
tumorbloodflow ( rTBF ) andrelativecerebralbloodflow ( rCBF ) inhigh-gradebraincancer
patientswerefasterthanthoseinlow-gradebraincancerpatients.Subgroupanalysisstratifiedby
countryimpliedthatASL maybethe mainpredictionofincreasedrTBFinhigh-gradebrain
cancerpatientsamongUSA , KoreaandChina ; andrCBFwasfasterinhigh-gradebraincancer
usingASLinUSAandinChina.Furtherreferencebytissue-stratifiedanalysisrevealedapositive
associationofrTBF withhigh-gradebraincancerbyutilizationofASLinalltheexperimental
subgroups , whilerCBF wasonlycorrelatedin whitesubgroups.Conclusion TheseresultsshowedthatrTBFandrCBFwerefasterinhigh-gradebraincancerpatients , suggestingthatASL
mayprovidesuitablemeasurementforthedifferentialdiagnosisoftumorgradeinbrain.
