Abstract: [Abstract]〓Objective〖HTSS〗〓To investigate the effects for evaluating insulin resistance (IR) by abdominal obesity measured by CT or through simple body fat parameters.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗〓Fifty patients with abdominal obesity and with normal glucose tolerance(Control group) and fifty patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and abdominal obesity(T2DM group) were recruited. Waistline, hipline, body mass index(BMI), fasting blood glucose(FBG), fasting insulin(FINS), fasting Cpeptide, triglycerides(TG), highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC), lowdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(LDLC), HOMA1insulin resistance index(HOMA1IRI), the area of intraabdominal adipose(I), the area of subcutaneous adipose(S), I/S ratio were detected. The correlation between HOMA1IRI and the other indexes above were analyzed.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗〓FBG, FINS, fasting Cpeptide, HOMA1IRI, lnHOMA1IRI, the area of intraabdominal adipose, I/S ratio were higher in T2DM group than that in the control group,  HDLC was much lower in T2DM group than that in the control group(P<005). There was no significant difference in LDLC and the ratio of waistline and hipline between the two groups. There was a significantly positive correlation between lnHOMA1IRI and FBG, FINS, fasting Cpeptide, LDLC, TG, the area of intraabdominal adipose, I/S ratio, and HOMA1IRI. And there was a significantly negative correlation between lnHOMA1IRI and HDLC.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗〓Abdominal obesity measured by CT was more sensitive than simple body fat parameters to evaluate IR.
