Abstract: ABSTRACT:Objective To analyze the characteristics of femoral tumor cases on sex,age and site through the retrospective study of femoral tumor in our hospital.Methods Through our hospital medical record inquiry system,the femoral tumor cases who had integrity data after operation and had a clear pathological diagnosis of tumor from 1980 January to 2012 December were collected.The sex,age,site and type of constituent ratio were statistically analyzed and the independent risk factors of primary bone malignancy were got.Results One thousand five hundred and four femoral tumor cases were collected,including 1385 cases of primary bone tumors,119 cases of metastatic tumors.Primary bone tumors in high incidence of type of benign tumor,high risk sites were distal femur,the high age of >10- 20 years old.Benign,malignant high risk age was > 10 - 20,intermediate type high risk age ranged > 20 - 30 years old.There were significant differences on the site and age distribution of the primary femoral malignant tumor and metastasis tumor (χ2 = 226.976,P < 0.01;χ2 = 215.204,P < 0.01 ).The logistic regression analysis showed sex,age,and site were independent risk factors of primary bone tumor on malignant degree (P <0.05).Conclusion There were more males than females in the primary bone tumor cases.The highest-risk age group for both sexes was > 10 - 20 years.The most common malignancy of the primary femoral tumor was osteosarcoma.The primary malignant bone tumor mainly occurred in the distal femur and metastases mainly occurred in the proximal femur.The sex,age and site were independent risk factors on malignant degree.Clinicians should pay more attention to females over the age of 45 years old who had space occupying lesions in the distal femur.
