Abstract: Objective Meta-analysis method was used to analyze survival rates hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)of patients treated with operation and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TAC) reported in different periodicals to evaluate quantitativelly the two treatment procedures. Methods The Meta-analysis was done as follows: collection of relative literatures, literatures selection according to our criterion, abstraction of analysis items from the selected reports, and selection of statistical methods. Results The results showed that the 95 % confidence interval of integrated RD of survival rated for 1 or 3 years on the treatment effect between operation and TAC are -0.0841~0.1177 and -0.1380~0.0672 respectively, all of which included zero. Conclusion There was no difference in the survival rates between HCC patients treated with operation and TAC.
