Evaluation of clinical value of PET/CT and MRI and combination in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant pancreatic lesions

Abstract: [
Abstract ] Objective Toevaluatethediagnosticvalueofpositronemissiontomography /
computedtomography ( PET / CT ) and magneticresonanceimaging ( MRI ) andcombinationof
bothmethodsinbenignandmalignantpancreaticlesions.Methods Retrospectiveanalysisofthe
patientswithpancreaticlesionswhohadexaminedPET / CTandMRI ( timeintervalof2weeksor
less ) wasusedinthisstudy.Theresultswereconfirmedbypathologyorfollow-upwithclinic
imaging ( follow-upfor1yearormore
), thediagnosticsensitivity , specificity , accuracy , positive
andnegativepredictivevalue wweregotten bythestatisticsofthetwo methodsandtheir
combinationinbenignandmalignantpancreaticlesions.Results In67pancreaticlesions , the
resultsofpathologyorfollow-upwere41malignantand26benign.Thesensitivity , specificity  accuracy , positivepredictivevalueandnegativepredictivevaluewereshownrespectively
: PET /
CT was85.37% , 80.77% , 83.58% , 87.50% and77.78% , MRI was80.49% , 76.92% ,
79.10% , 84.62%and71.43% , PET / CT+MRIwas90.24% , 84.62% , 88.06% , 90.24%and
84.62%.Therewasnosignificantdifferenceindiagnosticaccuracybetweenthe3methods ( P >
0.05 ) .Conclusion PET / CTand MRIhashighdiagnosticvalueindifferentiatingbenignand
malignantlesionsofthepancreas.Ifnecessary , bothofthem canimprovetheaccuracyof
diagnosisofbenignandmalignantpancreaticdiseases.
