Abstract: [Abstract]Objective To investigate the association between the atherogenic index of plasma(AIP) and cardiovascular disease risk in middle-aged obese individuals. Methods One hundred and twenty patients with hypertension were randomly selected and divided into obese group and non-obese group according to visceral fat area. Patients were divided into high-risk group, medium risk group and low risk group according to Framingham Risk Score. AIP, age, waist-hip fat ratio, blood pressure, body mass index, blood sugar and blood lipids in each group were compared, and the correlation between AIP and cardiovascular disease risk in hypertensive obese patients was analyzed. Results AIP, waist-hip fat ratio, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly higher in the obese group than in the non-obese group(P<0.05). Waist-hip fat ratio, systolic blood pressure, bady mass index and AIP in the middle risk group and the high-risk group were significantly higher than those in the low risk group, and the waist-hip fat ratio, systolic blood pressure, bady mass index and AIP in the high-risk group were significantly higher than those in the middle risk group(P<0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that AIP was positively correlated with cardiovascular factors(P<0.05). Conclusion All patients with hypertension and obesity have significant dyslipidemia, high AIP value and 10-year cardiovascular risk, and AIP can be an important risk factor for patients with cardiovascular disease.
