Abstract ] Objective Toinvestigatetherelationshipoftype2diabetesmellituswiththe
pathologicalparametersandprognosisofbreastcancer.Methods Eightybreastcancerpatients
withtype2diabetesmellituswereenrolledintothisstudy.Onehundredandsixtybreastcancer
patientswithouttype2diabetesmellitusinthesametimewereselectedascontrolgroup.The
generalcharacteristicsandpathologicalparameterswerecompared.Results Theagesandblood
glucosevaluesinbreastcancerpatientswithtype2diabetesmellitusgroupweresignificantly
higherthanthoseincontrolgroup , andsoisfortheratioofpostmenopausalpatients.Allthe
differenceswerestatisticallysignificant.Butthedifferencesofboydmassindex , ageatmenarche
andparitybetweenthetwogroupswerenotstatisticallysignificant.Therewasnosignificant
differenceinthedistributionofclinicalstage , tumorsize , lymphnode metastasis , estrogen
receptor , progesteronereceptor , humanepidermalgrowthfactorreceptor-2and Ki-67status
betweengroupofbreastcancerpatientswithtype2diabetesmellitusandnon-diabeticgroup.The
distributionofhistologicalgradeandmoleculartypingbetweengroupofbreastcancerpatients withtype2diabetes mellitusandnon-diabeticgroup weresignificantlydifferent.Thehigher
histologicalgradeand moreBasal-liketypewerefoundinbreastcancerpatientswithtype2
diabetes mellitus than in non-diabetic group.The difference was statistically significant.
Conclusion Breastcancerwithtype2diabetesismorecommoninpatientswitholderageand
postmenopause.Eldertype2diabetespatientsespeciallyforpostmenopausalshouldberegularly
examinedbybreastultrasoundandmammography.ThehigherhistologicalgradeandmoreBasal-
liketypewerefoundingroupofbreastcancerpatientswithtype2diabetesmellitusthaninnon-
diabeticgroup.Type2diabetesmellitusistheriskfactorforbreastcancerpatientswithpoor
prognosis.
