Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect and clinical significance of coenzyme Q10 on postoperative fatigue syndrome(POFS)in patients with rectal cancer after radical operation. Methods Seventy-six cases with radical resection of rectal carcinoma were randomly divided into experimental group(38 cases)and control group (38 cases).Intravenous drip of coenzyme Q10 (10mg,once daily)was given after anaesthesia induction and 1-3d postoperation in experimental group, and control group received normal saline instead. After operation, the patients of two groups were treated with the same therapeutic regimen.General data were observed in two groups.Visual analogue scale(VAS)was measured preoperation and 1st,3rd,7th d postoperation. Body mass index (BMI ),triceps skinfold thickness (TSF ) were also tested in two groups preoperation and 7th d postoperation.Serum total protein (TP),albumin (ALB),transferrin (TRF),adiponectin(APN)were detected at the same time. Results The evacuation time and hospitalization time of experimental group were shorter than those of control group (P<0.05). VAS scores increased in two groups after operation, whereas VAS score in experimental group was lower than that in control group 3rd,7th d postoperation (P<0.05).No significant difference was found in preoperative BMI,TSF,TP,ALB,TRF between two groups (P>0.05 ),and all these indicators decreased after operation, whereas decline degree in experimental group was less than that in control group (all P<0.05 ).Conclusion Obvious POFS existed in patients with rectal cancer after radical operation. And coenzyme Q10 can alleviate POFS,promote early rehabilitation.
