Abstract: [Abstract] Objective〖HTSS〗〓To explore the association of interleukin 28B(IL28B) single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) with chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection and response to antiHCV treatment.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗〓Two hundred and fiftythree patients with chronic hepatitis C and compensated cirrhosis, and 83 healthy controls were genotyped for the IL28B rs8099917 polymorphisms by TaqMan system. The relation of IL28B rs8099917 SNPs and chronic HCV infection, and the association of IL28B rs8099917 SNPs and virological responses were analyzed. Chisquare test was performed for comparison of categorical data.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗〓The patients with chronic HCV infection and the healthy controls showed similar frequencies of G, T allele and GG/GT, TT genotypes(P>005). IL28B rs8099917 SNPs were neither significantly associated with baseline HCV RNA level nor with HCV genotype(P>005). The presences of IL28B rs8099917 T allele and TT genotype were significantly higher in patients achieved early virological response  and sustained virological response than nonresponse patients.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗〓In Hebei province, polymorphisms in IL28B rs8099917 were not associated with susceptibility to chronic HCV infection. IL28B rs8099917 T allele and TT genotype were predictors for better virological responses.
