Abstract: ［Abstract］Objective〖HTSS〗To observe the application of assisted oocyte activation(AOA) in the in vitro fertilization cycle, and to evaluate the activation effects of fertilization, embryo development, and clinical outcomes.
  〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗This retrospective analysis was conducted on infertile women undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) combined with AOA treatment(23 cases in total). The pronucleus formation, embryo development and clinical outcomes of oocytes after activation in these patients were observed.
  〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗Each patient of this study underwent one cycle of ICSI+AOA, all of the oocytes were activated by calcium ionophore A23187. Ultimately 9 patients received clinical pregnancy. The clinical pregnancy rate was 39.1%. Group A: This group included 8 cases of ICSI total fertilization failure at least one time. The 2PN fertilization rate, 2PN cleavage rate, excellent embryo rate and available embryo rate of AOA cycle were 50.0%, 93.3%, 39.3% and 71.4%, respectively. The clinical pregnancy rate and implantation rate were 12.5% and 7.1%, respectively. Group B: This group included ten cases of severe sperm deformity, such as round head sperm disease. The 2PN fertilization rate, 2PN cleavage rate, excellent embryo rate and available embryo rate of AOA cycle were 53.9%, 98.8%, 48.8%, and 65.9%, respectively.The clinical pregnancy rate and planting rate were 53.3% and 40.7%, respectively.
  〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗AOA can improve the fertilization rate and embryo development quality of patients with total fertilization failure in ICSI, and can be used for ICSI of severe sperm deformity such as round head sperm disease, which has certain value for clinical application.
