Influence of life style and nutritional status on the pain among gerontal patients with osteoporosis

Abstract: [
Abstract ] Objective Tounderstandtheinfluenceoflifestyleandnutritionalstatustothe
painamonggerontalpatientswithosteoporosis , andtomakeiteasytotakesomeintervention
clinicallyforlessincidencerateofpain.Methods Questionnaireswerecarriedoutamonggerontal
patientswithosteoporosisaboutthelifestyleandnutritionalstatus , meanwhilebynumerical
ratingscaleforthelevelofpain , andbymininutritionalassessmentfortheirnutritionalstate.
Results Theincidenceofpainin208patientswas81. 3% , andfemaleovermale.Thepainscore
ofosteoporosispatientswithgoodnutrition waslowerthan who withgeneralnutritionand
malnutrition.Themarriedpainscorewaslowerthanthewidowed.Thepainscoreofosteoporosis
patientslivingincouplewaslowerthanthoselivingaloneandlivingwithdescendents ( P <0.05 ) .
Thepainscoreofregularandoccasionalexercisepatientswaslowerthanthatofthenever
exercisepatients ( P <0.05 ) .Thepainscoreofpatientswhohadonechildwaslowerthanwho
hadmorechildren ( P <0.05 ) .Thepainscoreofoftenteadrinkerswaslowerthanthosewho
neverdrinktea ( P <0.05 ) .Theoverallevaluationscoresofmoderateandseverepaingroupwere
lowerthanthoseinthemildpaingroup ( P <0.05 ) .Thedietoftheseverepaingroupwaslower thanthatofthe moderatepaingroup.Thedifferencewasstatisticallysignificant ( P <0.05 ) .
Conclusion Theincidencerateofpainishigheramonggerontalpatientswithosteoporosis.
Maybeit'srelatedtothelifestyleandnutritionalstatusofthegerontalpatients.
