Abstract: Objective To compare the pregnancy complications and neonatal outcomes of patients with gestational diabetes mellitus who received insulin treatment with continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS ) and peripheral blood monitor. Methods A randomized control experimental study was conducted in the hospitalized diabetes mellitus patients and gestational diabetes mellitus patients with insulin treatment in Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. The patients were randomly divided into two groups, the patients of experiment group were monitored using CGMS,those of control group referred to the use of peripheral blood glucose monitoring. All patients in two groups were observed about glycemia control, pregnancy complications and neonatal outcomes. Results Higher rate of patients with hypoglycemia was detected during pregnancy in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.05). The incidence rates of macrosomia in experimental group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05 ).Conclusion CGMS revealed higher detective rate of gestational hypoglycemia, compared with that of peripheral blood monitoring. The study provides a reliable basis for clinical treatment, while reduces the occurrence of adverse pregnancy outcomes and neonatal complications.
