Abstract: OcjectiVe To eXplore the correlation and clinical significance between serum albumin levels and biochemical indicators in patients with hypoalbuminemia. Methods The data from 127 hospitalized patients who had nutritional consultation in department of nutrition were reviewed. The patients with serum albumin level≥35g/L were regarded as control group, and those < 35g/L as hypoalbuminemia group. Results The serum levels of total protein, prealbumin, albumin, calcium, ferrum, phosphorus, cholinesterase in hypoalbuminemia group were significantly lower than those in control group( p<0 . 01 ). Positive correlations between albumin and cholinesterase( r=0 . 446 ,p<0. 01 ),as well as between albumin and calcium(r=0. 372,p<0. 01)were statistically significant. Conclusion There were correlations between serum albumin, cholinesterase and serum calcium in hypoalbuminemia patients, which suggested that the combination tests should be used as the potential indicators for evaluating nutritional status of the patients.
