Abstract: Objective To study the effect of ulinastain on early postoperative lung function of esophageal cancer patients. Methods The study selected 50 esophageal carcinoma in-patients who were randomly divided into two groups. Ulinastain group(25 cases):normal saline 250mL +ulinastatin one million unit by intravenous injection, twice a day from the operation day to five days after the operation. The control group(25 cases):normal saline 250mL by intravenous injection, twice a day, from the operation day to five days after the operation. Comparison was made in postoperative lung function index forced expiratory volume in the first second( FEV1 ),diffusion capacity for carbonmonoxide( DLCO)and partial pressure of oxygen( PO2 )of the two groups. Results Postoperative lung function indexes of two groups declined obviously compared with preoperative( P <0. 05 );the two groups in comparisons, postoperative lung functions of the ulinastain group index FEV1 ,DLCO,PO2 of ulinastain group were significantly better than these of control group(P<0. 05);In ulinastain group, there was a case of pain and red at the the location of injection, and a case of dispersed erythra at the trunk after using ulinastatin, the two patients took a favourable turn after stopping injection. Conclusion Ulinastatin can improve early postoperative pulmonary ventilation function, dispersion function, improve oxygenation index, showing positive significance to recovery of postoperative patients′lung function.
