Effect of losartan potassium combined with simvastatin on oxidative stress and homocysteine in diabetic patients with peritoneal dialysis

Abstract ] Objective Toobservetheeffectsoflosartanpotassiumandsimvastatintreatment
onoxidativestressindexandthesametypeofcysteineofdiabeticnephropathypatientsin
peritonealdialysis.Methods Eightytype2diabetesmellitus , diabeticnephropathyendstageinto
thecontinuousambulatoryperitonealdialysiswererandomlydividedinto2groups.Incontrol
group , 40casesweretreatedwithperitonealdialysis.Fortycasesinthetreatmentgroupwere
givenlosartanpotassium50mg , 1timesaday , simvastatin20mg , 1timesanight.After12
weeks , the changes ofsuperoxide dismutase ( SOD ), glutathione peroxidase ( GSH-PX ),
malondialdehyde ( MDA ) and Hcy werecomparedinthe2groupsbeforeandaftertreatment.
Results Afterdialysis , HcyandMDAintreatmentgroupweresignificantlylowerthanbefore
dialysis ( P <0.05 ) .SODandGSH-PXweresignificantlyhigherthanbeforedialysis ( P <0.05 ) .
HcyandMDAincontrolgroupweresignificantlyhigherthanbeforedialysis ( P <0.05 ) .GSH-PX
wassignificantlylowerthanbeforedialysis ( P <0.05 ) .SODdifferencewasnotsignificantbefore
andafterdialysis ( P <0.05 ) .Afterdialysis , HcyandMDAintreatmentgroupwerelowerthan
thoseincontrolgroup.SOD and GSH-PX werehigherthanthecontrolgroup ( P <0.01 ) .
Conclusion EffectoflosartanpotassiumcombinedsimvastatinonoxidativestressindexandHcy indiabeticpatientswithperitonealdialysiswasreliable.
