[ Abstract ] Objective Tostudytheultrastructurechangesofmyopiainducedbylens-induced
methodandtoexploreitspathologicalmechanism.Methods Thirty-nineguineapigswithtwo
weeksoldwererandomlydividedintothreegroups : groupA , groupBandgroupC , withthirteen
ratsineachgroup.Aeyewasrandomlyselectedtowear-10.00DSconcavelens , whichwas
removedafterculturingfor10days , 30daysand50daysingroupA , groupBandgroupC ,

prolonged , themoreseveretheeyes , themoreserioustheaxiallength (
P <0.05 ) .Therefractive
degreeoftheexperimentaleyewaslowerthanthatofthecontrol , andtheaxiallengthwaslonger
thanthatofthecontroleye ( P <0.05 ) .Thereweresignificantdifferencesamongthe3groupsin
thescleralthickness ( P <0.05 ) .ThethicknessofgroupCwasthinnerthanthatofgroupA ( P <
0.05 ) .Comparedwiththecontroleyes , thescleralthicknessingroupCwasthinnerthanthatin
controlgroup ( P <0.05 ) .Thecollagenfibersinthegroup A wereslightlydisordered.The arrangementofcollagenfibersingroupBwereslightlydisordered , thicknesswasuneven , and
gapsbecamelarger.IngroupC , thedisorderofcollagenfibersanduneventhicknessofthe
collagenfiberswereincreased , andthestructureofcollagenfiberswasnotclear.IngroupC , the
outernuclearlayeroftheretinabecamesmallerandround , andarrangementwasdisordered.
Conclusion Theguineapigcanbeusedasaneffectiveandeconomicalmanmmalmodelin
experimental myopia study.The degenerations were occurredin sclera and retinain the
experimentalmodels.
