[Abstract] Objective〖HTSS〗〓To analyze the relevance of EEG in children with idiopathic epilepsy to serum levels of inflammatory factors.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Methods〖HTSS〗〓Seventyfive cases diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy included in the study were divided into 3 groups according to the frequency of epileptic seizures: epilepticus status group, nonepileptic frequent or persistent state group, and persistent state group, which included 25 cases in each group. Thirty healthy children were enrolled as control cases. Serum level of inflammatory factors (HMGB1, IL6, IL2, TNFα) and EEG findings were analyzed in both epilepsy and control groups.
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Results〖HTSS〗〓Serum level of HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα in in cases with epilepsy were significantly higher than that in control group (P<005), serum level of HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα in cases with epilepticus status and frequent epilepsy were both higher than that in nonfrequent seizures or persistent state group (P<005); Serum level of HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα in cases with EEG epileptic discharge and slow waves were significantly higher than those with normal EEG and boundary resistance (P<005). Serum level of HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα levels in cases with EEG epileptic discharge were significantly higher than those with EEG slow waves (P<005).
〖HTH〗〖WTHZ〗Conclusion〖HTSS〗〓HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα are important inflammatory factors relevance to idiopathic epilepsy. Abnormalities findings in EEG were positively correlated with serum levels of HMGB1, IL2, IL6, TNFα.
